The Airports Authority of India manages most of the airports and a few are under the control of the defence authorities. Indian Airlines pays various charges like Landing, Parking, and Route Navigation Fee etc. to the airports controlling agencies for using the airport.

Provision and maintenance of all facilities at airports, be it the check-in areas, toilets, telephone booths, banking, post office counters etc. are controlled by the airport controlling agencies.
